Albertsons to offer COVID-19 vaccines as part of federal pharmacy partnership

With the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention activating its Federal Pharmacy Partnership to increase access to COVID-19 vaccines via leading retail pharmacy operators, Albertsons is among the companies working with the federal government.

The Boise, Idaho-based company has been named an early start partner in Arizona, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington, where its pharmacies will receive direct allocations of the vaccine from the federal government beginning next week. The company noted that it already has administered more than a quarter of a million doses of COVID-19 vaccines via partnerships with individual states that comprise is 1,700-plus pharmacy footprint.

Albertsons said that the additional supply from the government would be administered on an appoint-only basis to patients based on states’ eligibility guidelines. More pharmacies are set to participate as the supply of vaccines increases. The company is offering scheduling and FAQs at Albertsons.com/COVID-19.
