ASHP taps Kelly McCormick-Sullivan ASHP Foundation CEO

McCormick-Sullivan will lead the ASHP Foundation’s philanthropic efforts to fund research and support ASHP through advancing patient care.

ASHP has appointed Kelly McCormick-Sullivan as ASHP Foundation CEO, effective June 4, 2024.

McCormick-Sullivan will lead the foundation’s philanthropic efforts to fund research and support ASHP through advancing patient care and the practice of pharmacists in hospitals and health systems.

McCormick-Sullivan brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit, healthcare leadership and philanthropy. Most recently, she served as the interim president and CEO of the Pluta Cancer Center Foundation in Rochester, N.Y., overseeing the foundation's operational, programmatic and funding programs.

She also served as president of the Rochester Regional Health Foundations, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester, N.Y., and president of CommuniCare Partners, among other positions. Her leadership in these roles has been marked by transformative fundraising efforts, operational excellence and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.

Abramowitz. “Her visionary leadership and extensive philanthropic and health-system experience make her an exceptional choice to lead ASHP Foundation’s philanthropic efforts that fund transformative research and support important ASHP efforts to advance patient care, public health, and pharmacy practice in hospitals and health systems.”

McCormick-Sullivan will lead ASHP Foundation’s strategic and operational initiatives in philanthropy that fund critical research and education to improve patient health. She also will play a pivotal role in supporting the sustained funding of ASHP’s multi-year national public awareness campaign to highlight the critical patient care roles of hospital and health-system pharmacists.

“Kelly brings a remarkable blend of strategic insight and operational expertise to the ASHP Foundation,” said ASHP Foundation board chair Kelly Smith. “We are delighted that she will soon join ASHP and are confident under her leadership the ASHP Foundation will continue to thrive and make significant strides as we advance patient care and pharmacy practice.”

McCormick-Sullivan holds a master’s degree in health system administration from Rochester Institute of Technology, a master’s degree in public communication from American University, a master’s certificate in human resources from Cornell University and a bachelor’s degree in politics from The Catholic University of America.
