Affordable, luxe brands intermingling among online search leaders

A combination of high-end and middle-market lipstick brands took the top five places in the Clavis Insight Index, CI2, Lipstick ranking. More affordable brands available at Target, Walmart and Amazon, such as IMAN, Revlon and Maybelline, earned Top 5 rankings, as did more upmarket brands, NARS and Bite Beauty, available at higher-end retailers like Sephora.

Common among almost all of the Top 20 brands in the CI2 is strong content integrity, with well populated manufacturer names and brand names in product descriptions, as well as above-average availability, meaning their items are in stock and available for online purchase and shipping across retailers.


A number of the Top 20 Lipstick brands had mixed results in terms of search ranking, which suggests that there is room for those brands to improve online, allowing consumers who shop via search to find their products and making brand online presence truly kissable.
