SAN BRUNO, Calif. — Walmart on Tuesday announced that Cyber Monday 2014 was the biggest online day in its history for orders. Customers viewed more than 1.5 billion pages on Walmart.com between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday, the five-day period of deep savings Walmart recently dubbed “The New Black Friday.”
“We worked hard to bring amazing deals to our customers on Cyber Monday and they responded by driving our Cyber Monday volume to a new all-time high,” said Fernando Madeira, president and CEO, Walmart.com. “Customers should keep checking Walmart.com for incredible new deals on tablets, HDTVs, toys and more every day for the rest of Cyber Week, which runs through Friday, Dec. 5.”
Walmart saw a higher traffic surge than previous years in the evening as it offered the Cyber Monday Evening Edition with great deals at a time convenient for working Americans and millennials. Mobile accounted for approximately 70% of traffic to Walmart.com between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday.
This year, more than 100 Cyber Monday specials were available for free same-day pickup at Walmart stores. It was Walmart’s biggest day ever for same-day pickup with orders increasing 70% over last year.
