Some people think that humor is subjective. They’re wrong. As a former standup comedian who has done many years of extensive research on the subject, I can tell you with 100 percent certainty that there are basic, immutable laws of comedy that determine what is funny and what is not funny. And if I ever figured out what those laws were perhaps I would have made it in show business.
