Kimberly-Clark recalls certain lots of Kotex tampon product

DALLAS — Kimberly-Clark on Wednesday recalled a limited number of a Kotex product distributed to specific stores in the United States.

The company said that the recall of Kotex Natural Balance Security unscented tampons regular absorbency is limited to two product SKUs: 15063 (18-count packages) and 15068 (36-count packages). The tampons were manufactured with a raw material contaminated with Enterobacter sakazakii, a bacterium that may pose such health risks as vaginal infections, urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory disease or infections that can be life-threatening.

The lots were shipped to retail between Oct. 29 and Nov. 2 in specific Walmart stores in Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico and Texas; specific Fry's stores in Arizona; and specific Smith's stores in Utah and Arizona. All impacted stores have been alerted to remove the recalled product SKUs from shelves. Not all of the stores in the mentioned states, however, were impacted.
