Mederma develops new advanced scar gel for once-daily application
GREENSBORO, N.C. — Mederma, a maker of scar therapy products, has introduced its new Mederma advanced scar gel, which is designed to reduce the overall appearance of scars caused by injury, acne, surgery or burns with one daily application.
Mederma advanced scar gel is a transparent topical gel that contains Cepalin, the same proprietary botanical extract derived from onions used in all Mederma scar products and stretch marks therapy.
Mederma advanced scar gel is clinically shown to improve the texture, color, softness and overall appearance of scars, according to the manufacturer. In a recent study, people reported an average of 36% greater improvement in the overall appearance of scars treated with Mederma advanced scar gel, compared with untreated scars after eight weeks of once-daily use.
Mederma advanced scar gel is sold in a 20-g tube that retails for about $20, and a 50-g tube that retails for about $32. It will be available in the first aid section of drug stores nationwide.
