ModiFace, Pinterest customize searches by skin tone

5/3/2018
ModiFace is taking another huge leap in augmented reality with a little help from Pinterest. Together, both companies will be helping users customize their searches based on preferred skin tone range.

Pinterest notes that it sees over 200 million users search for ideas on a monthly basis, with 70% of those results being for new styles and looks. With over 100 billion pins to explore from, the company came across user’s issue of being able to find beauty and style looks that relevant to them.

That is why the company turned to one of the leaders in AI and AR-beauty ModiFace, who was recently acquired by L'Oreal, and created a new way for users to search for just the right pin.

“We are very excited by this first step in our partnership with Pinterest. Leveraging our AI capability to make a search on Pinterest more personal and useful makes a great deal of sense,” Parham Aarabi, CEO of ModiFace, said. “We look forward to expanding our partnership with additional capabilities and technologies over the coming months and years.”

With ModiFace’s Face AI-technology, an inclusive way of searching has been introduced to app that allows users search for style, beauty and other topics, based on skin tone.
