MyChelle Dermaceuticals and Crystal Deodorant are joining forces for a good cause.
The companies announced their support of The Gentle Barn, a nonprofit organization that looks to fight and end animal cruelty in animal testing practices.
In addition, the organization provides sanctuary for abused and neglected animals, and allows inner-city and at-risk children to interact with them to promote respect and responsibility.
"Animal testing is still such a problem in the beauty and personal care industry. It is our corporate mission to model a different way, something we are proud to have done with our brands for more than 35 years," Catie Wiggy, vice president of marketing at MyChelle Dermaceuticals, and Crystal, said.
MyChelle and Crystal are looking to support The Gentle Barn’s “Gentle 12” program, which looks encourage like-minded brands to build a strong commitment to a healthier world, through the month of August.
"Most skin care products rely on extreme animal testing," Ellie Laks, founder of The Gentle Barn, said. "Not only must companies stop torturing animals to produce these products, but consumers must also shop smarter and choose cruelty-free brands."
Throughout August, both brands will run cruelty-free campaigns that use the #BeyondCrueltyFree hashtag in order to spread awareness about animal testing. Both brands also will host all public events every Sunday throughout the month at all Gentle Barn locations and donate 1% of proceeds from online purchases to the nonprofit.
