Shoppers Drug Mart announces opening of Murale beauty store in Ottawa
TORONTO Shoppers Drug Mart on Friday announced that its new retail beauty store, Murale, premiered on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Place d’Orleans in Ottawa.
The beauty store is the first Murale location to open in Canada and will feature an unprecedented assortment of luxury, dermatological, fragrance and niche brands from around the world.
“We’ve brought the best in beauty brands and expertise together in this fantastic new beauty destination,” Jurgen Schreiber, president and chief executive officer of Shoppers Drug Mart said. “Murale is unlike any other beauty offering in North America with its unique combination of leading beauty and dermatological products and professional, expert services and consultation.”
The beauty boutique will feature luxury prestige cosmetics brands including Bobbi Brown, Chanel, Estee Lauder, Lancome and Nars, among others, each with their own area for interactivity and application. The store’s fragrance section includes more than 75 men’s and women’s scents from fragrance houses and designers like Prada, Donna Karan, Chloe, Cartier and Etat Libre d’Orange. Offering personalized beauty advice, Murale Beauty Masters will be on hand to assist customers in finding cosmetics and fragrances suited to their needs and also provide expert makeup applications.
Murale’s dermatological area is equipped with professional assessment tools and the latest in topical treatments and nutra-cosmetics, the Canadian retailer stated. Within skin care, Murale will feature Natura Bisse, Vichy, Murad and Darphin.
In addition to leading products, expert consultation and advice, Murale will offer services including the Benefit Brow Bar in Canada and a menu of more than 30 professional beauty and spa services available in two private cabines located adjacent to the dermatological area.

The second Murale flagship location will open in Galerie Place Ville Marie in Montreal on Dec. 7. The company plans to open between five and seven additional locations in Canada in 2009.
