Third annual New General Market Summit set for April

1/26/2017

Drug Store News and Mack Elevation will co-host the third annual New General Market Summit April 4 in Minneapolis. The exclusive thought-leadership platform will assemble several leading CPG organizations that passionately connect with today’s ever-changing, ever more diverse consumer.

The one-day event will examine how winning brands are adopting new needs, motivations and practices within their organizations, and how best-practice companies are building stronger customer relationships through personalization, custom solutions and seamless omnichannel design.

The New General Market consumer is an amalgamation of cultures, ethnicities and demographics aligned around common needs, purpose and lifestyle. Many of today’s top brands are building relationships with today’s New General Market by creating, honest and authentic one-to-one communities.

“Our vision is to bring together some of the best brands in our industry; inclusive brands that think about their consumers from a psychographic perspective — not just demographics,” said DSN publisher Eric Savitch. “These brands are building intimate relationships with millennials and diverse cultures.”

Mack Elevation managing director Dan Mack added: “We have a diverse group of health and beauty brands who are committed to blending entrepreneurism with strategic business development. This year’s companies are purposeful, creative, nimble and very passionate about their business.”

The New General Market Summit will feature executives from of a select group of special organizations that are committed to reaching and better serving today’s diverse consumer.  Sundial Brands CEO Rich Dennis, a pioneer in identifying and responding to cultural shifts in today’s consumer, will share new, emerging insights into the company’s organizational purpose and its social vision of community commerce.

Executives from Unilever will discuss new insights the company is uncovering in its efforts to build more purpose-driven brands and Eric Ryan, co-founder of both the Method and Olly brands, will talk about the “birth process” for innovation for today’s changing consumer.

And Target senior director healthcare and optical John Peine will examine the strategic benefits of creating personalized, customized omnichannel solutions to target the New General Market consumer.

Participants in the April 4 event will help define the best practices of winning brands that connect with today’s diverse consumer, and will be featured in a series of DSN special reports later this year, both digitally and in print.
