BJ’s Wholesale Club donates year supply of gas, tires

10/22/2019

BJ’s Wholesale Club is doing its part to help not one, but two organizations.

To do so, the retailer announced a donation of a year’s supply of gas and tires to the Oakland Meals on Wheels and Senior Alliance.

“We’re committed to nourishing our communities by providing access to basic essentials such as fresh, nutritious meals,” Matt Gordon, the regional director of BJ’s Wholesale Club, said. “We’re excited to partner with Oakland Meals on Wheels and The Senior Alliance to provide fuel and tires that will help feed our neighbors in need.”

The donations will look to help the nonprofit organizations provide seniors with critical services as the daily delivery of hot and nutritious food, the company said.

“At Oakland Meals on Wheels, we’re dedicated to delivering hot, nutritious meals to homebound seniors and adults with disabilities in our community through our network of caring volunteers and supporters,” Steve Haveraneck, the vice president of Oakland Meals on Wheels, said. “BJ’s donation of gas and tires will help us reach even more people and we’re thrilled to welcome them to our community.”

Both donations also celebrate the opening of the retailer’s newest BJ’s Gas locations in Madison Heights and Taylor, Mich., the company said.

“The Senior Alliance empowers people with needs to live with dignity by providing essential services, such as meals on wheels deliveries, and we’re grateful for BJ’s partnership,” Jason Maciejewski, the chief advocacy officer at The Senior Alliance, said. “BJ’s donation will help us address a critical need in our community and deliver meals to our neighbors who would otherwise go hungry.”
