Hammonds to retire as head of FMI
ARLINGTON, Va. The Food Marketing Institute yesterday reported that president and chief executive officer Tim Hammonds has announced retirement plans once a successor is found.
Hammonds “has made a major contribution to the expansion and enhancement of a number of programs that will continue to be of significant benefit to the food industry, especially in the areas of food safety, social responsibility, industry relations and political action,” said Steve Smith, chairman of the board at FMI, in a prepared statement making the announcement.
Hammonds joined FMI in 1975 after five years as a college professor. He tenure as president and chief executive officer has lasted 15 years.
