Hiland Dairy is getting into the holiday spirit by unveiling its latest addition for the season.
The Springfield, Mo.-based company announced that it will launch a custard flavor, which is made from milk, eggs and sugar, then combined and slowly heated until it has thickened.
"We are excited to bring this holiday favorite to all of our markets," Rick Beaman, vice president of Hiland Dairy said. "And we're willing to bet that fans of both our eggnog and the custard will disagree as to which is the best, so we are launching a fun consumer contest during December on our Facebook page to let the votes determine the favorite."
Unlike the brand’s eggnog, which is made with cream, eggs and nutmeg, the custard has a taste that consumers have often compared the melted ice cream, the company said.
Hiland Dairy Custard is available for purchase wherever the brand’s products are currently sold, for the suggested retail price of $2.79.
