Kroger adds Don Lee Farms’ plant-based burger to offerings
Kroger is adding Don Lee Farms’ Organic Plant-Based Burger to nearly 2,000 of its locations.
The burgers, which are to be sold in the meat section of Kroger, Ralphs, Dillons, King Scoopers, Fry’s, QFC and Fred Meyer locations, are made with plant-based ingredients that sizzle on the grill as raw beef does, the company said.
“Working with Kroger has been a priority for us in our pursuit to expand to where our customers want us to be,” Donald Goodman, the president of Don Lee Farms, said. “With the addition of Kroger, we are bringing the fastest growing burger of its kind to nearly 2,000 locations in the United States. With both private label and branded, we are now in over 8,000 retail markets.”
In addition, the burgers, which have been recognized by Women's Health magazine as one of the best veggie burgers by a team of nutritionists, also are vegan and gluten-free, and the only of its kind of qualify for USDA organic certification, the company said.
Shoppers can find the burgers at Kroger in May. Though currently it can be found on the shelves at such retailers as Costco, Publix, Wegmans, H-E-B, Stater Bros, Stop & Shop and other markets across the nation.
