Options in the plant-based burger category are continuing to grow.
Lightlife Foods, a brand focused on creating plant-based food products, announced that its Lightlife Burger and Ground plant-based meat products are to launch on various retail shelves across North America beginning in May.
Shoppers can find both products at Acme, Albertsons, Haggen, Jewel, Pavilions, Safeway, Vons, Wegmans, and at such natural food retailers as Whole Foods, Fresh Thyme, Moms, New Seasons, PCC, and Sprouts.
Created with culinary expertise, familiar ingredients and balanced nutrition, the Lightlife Burger contains a pea-protein base, as does the brand’s Ground, Bratwurst Sausage and Italian Sausage products, the Chicago-based company said.
In addition, the brand's products are free of GMOs, gluten, soy and artificial flavors.
The Lightlife Burger, which has 20 g of protein, and 2.5 g of saturated fat, is made from such ingredients as virgin coconut oil and beet powder.
“This launch is very exciting time for the business and the brand,” Dan Curtin, president of Greenleaf Foods, the parent company of Lightlife, said. “We’ve said it before: we didn’t join the plant-based category overnight—we’ve long been pioneering the industry. With this in mind, it’s wonderful to be able to see years of expertise, innovation and passion come to fruition when this groundbreaking product hits shelves this month.”
