Malt-O-Meal recalls several cereals
MINNEAPOLIS Malt-O-Meal Co., makers of popular cereals like Frosted Flakes, Golden Puffs and Honey Graham squares, announced a voluntary recall of its unsweetened Puffed Rice and unsweetened Puffed Wheat cereals, sold in the United States.
The company said Saturday that there could be possible health risks with the above mentioned cereal brand boxes with “use by” dates of APR0808 and MAR1809. During a routine safety test, Salmonella was discovered in some products. The cereal group said no illnesses have been reported to date, but these items were recalled immediately.
Chris Neugent, president of Malt-O-Meal, apologized for the recall saying the company was claiming it as a precautionary measure to protect public safety.
“It’s important that we spread the word about this situation quickly and broadly in order to remove even the slightest possibility that someone will consume something harmful,” Neugent said, “We apologize for this situation and promise to do everything to complete the recall as quickly as possible.”
