Nestlé Toll House makes cookie dough edible
Cookie dough lovers rejoice!
Nestlé Toll House has made the beloved treat safe and ready-to-eat with its new Edible Cookie Dough launch.
Available in two flavors — chocolate chip and peanut butter chocolate chip monster — the products are made with the same ingredients used in a mixing bowl at home minus the eggs, the Arlington, Va.-based company said.
“We know cookie dough is hard to resist, so we wanted to bring the experience of eating cookie dough straight from the mixer to consumers in a safe and convenient way,” Christyna Chandler, the associate brand manager at Nestlé Toll House said.
In addition, Edible Cooke Dough does not contain preservatives or artificial colors and flavors and is made with such ingredients as real butter and 100% real chocolate. It is also not recommended to be baked, but instead enjoyed right out of the tub.
The chocolate chip flavor was inspired by the classic Nestlé Toll House recipe, while the peanut butter chocolate chip monster contains peanut butter, oats and candy-coated chocolate.
Consumers can now find Edible Cookie Dough in the refrigerated section at Publix, retailing for $5.49 for 15-oz. tub. The product will expand to Meijer, select Walmart stores and regional grocery chains throughout July.
