Snickers is looking to make a splash this summer.
In order to help consumers, get away from all the doom and gloom social media tends to bring, the Hackettstown, N.J.-based company is unveiling its new “Big Mood” gifting program.
Via mobile phones, the brand is encouraging fans of its products to reach out and re-connect with a friend by sharing a small, everyday moment of playful banter, the company.
"At Mars, we want to leverage technologies that will bring the world closer together," Josh Olken, the brand director for Snickers said. "For Snickers, that means giving our fans new ways to experience satisfaction. With 'Big Mood,' not only are they giving a candy bar that is sure to satisfy, they also are getting the satisfaction of connecting with others — and the opportunity to pay it forward with their own 'Big Mood' gift."
To help get the word out about this new initiative, Snickers has partnered with Oakland rapper and YouTube star Caleon Fox on custom videos that reflect different comical moods.
From now until the end of September, those interested in participating can send one of the company’s featured videos along with a Snickers bar by texting Big Mood to 62770 or by scanning the QR code on “Big Mood” displays at Walmart stores across the country.
Participants will then be directed to a microsite where the name and phone number for a friend, family member, or whoever else they wish, will need to be inputted as well as a $1.65 payment, in order to send a Snickers with a personalized message.
Recipients will receive a gift card that can be redeemed for a Snickers bar at any Walmart store.
