Willy Wonka introduces larger, chewier Nerds candy

GLENDALE, Calif. Nestle’s Willy Wonka Candy Factory division announced Monday that it would introduce a bigger, chewier version of its Nerds candy brand.

Giant Chewy Nerds will include the crunchy Nerds shell and a jelly bean in the center. They will be available in strawberry, grape, watermelon, lemon and orange flavors.

As part of its promotion, Willy Wonka is also letting children and teenagers sing original lyrics about the candy in its Loss for Lyrics video contest. The winner of the contest, which ends Sept. 21, will fly to Los Angeles to record his or her song professionally with Raven-Symone, star of the Disney Channel’s “That’s So Raven.”
