CRN adds 2 to staff amid other promotions

The Council for Responsible Nutrition is growing its staff with two new hires. The trade organization for the dietary supplement and functional food industry has added Luke Huber as vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs and Amanda Darlington as director of government relations. 

Huber will be charged with executing CRN’s scientific affairs and nutrition policy efforts. He joins the organization from RB, where he was global research and development director for VMS. He brings 20 years of experience in the industry to the role and has held various scientific and technical leadership titles at leading companies. 

“Luke’s ability to offer a clinician’s perspective to dietary supplements and nutrition science offers an invaluable addition to our science and regulatory team,” said Andrea Wong, CRN’s senior vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs. “His impressive industry experience and expertise in nutrition science will enhance our association’s role in the development of the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and other scientific research related to nutrition and health promotion. Luke’s unique strengths and proficiencies will complement our already strong science team and will heighten our association’s ability to serve its members well.”

Darlington will oversee CRN’s state government affairs program. She joins the trade group from Apollo Education Group/University of Phoenix, where she was director of state government affairs. Her previous experience has included time as a policy analyst for the American Academy of Actuaries and as a congressional legislative fellow. Her work with CRN also will include leading its government relations state subcommittee and in developing and executing CRN’s state lobbying events, 

“Amanda brings essential experience to CRN’s government relations team, and CRN members will benefit greatly from her ability to navigate complex regulatory activity in the states and to provide expert analysis of patchwork state legislation surrounding in-demand supplements and ingredients, such as CBD,” said CRN vice president of government relations Julia Gustafson. “We are thrilled to have her on board.”

Alongside these new additions, CRN is going into 2020 with several staff members in new roles following promotions. Megan Olsen has been named vice president and associate general counsel; Maya English has been promoted to director of membership, education and events; Holly Vogtman is now communications manager after being promoted in July; William Dumais is now manager of government relations; Emily Zavrel has been named communications associate; and Rashidah Denton is an associate for regulatory and scientific affairs, having been promoted in July.
