CVS Health, Microsoft ink deal to redefine personalized care

CVS Health and Microsoft are joining forces to create innovative solutions to help consumers improve their health.

CVS Health is embarking on a brand-new partnership with Microsoft.

The companies recently gave some insight into what they hope to accomplish through this alliance, which includes focusing on innovative solutions to help consumers improve their health.

In order to help consumers, the two companies plan on helping CVS Health employees, including frontline workers, obtain the best tools to better serve the communities they serve.

“We are rapidly transforming into a consumer-centric, integrated health solutions company, taking a digital-first, technology forward approach to all that we do,” Roshan Navagamuwa, chief information officer at CVS Health said. “Business services at this scale requires a new level of partnership. Our collaboration with Microsoft will accelerate this work and empower our employees to provide quality care that is more personal and affordable.”

The retailer will look to Microsoft to help with the acceleration of data-driven and personalized customer experiences that comply with its patient privacy and confidentiality policies. This also includes scaled up retail loyalty and personalized programs that use machine learning models running on the cloud computing service Azure, the companies said.

Currently, CVS Health uses Azure’s cognitive services including computer vision and text analytics that automate tasks. As the partnership evolves, the company will using Azure to accelerate its multi-cloud presence to more than 1,500 new and existing applications in the cloud.

“We are excited to partner with CVS Health on its digital transformation journey, collaborating together on how the company manages health data at scale, improves the customer experience, and drives operational efficiency,” Judson Althoff, Microsoft’s chief commercial officer said. “With the Azure platform and its AI capabilities, we will combine the power of data, the expansive reach of CVS Health’s world-class solutions, and Microsoft Teams to connect health care experts and create customized care and services that enable people to live healthier lives.”

In addition, the companies will be working to explore innovative technology solutions that will be support consumers, employees and ecosystem partners. This includes tools that can simplify complex procedures, and the automation of administrative and predictive processes to reduce waste.
