Dollar General now accepting supplemental benefits chainwide
Dollar General customers can now purchase food, produce, over-the-counter medicines and additional wellness products in more than 20,000 stores across the country using health supplemental benefits.
“With approximately 75% of Americans within five miles of a Dollar General, we recognize the unique access we provide to all communities, especially rural ones, that may not have affordable access to health and wellness essentials,” said Dr. Albert Wu, Dollar General’s chief medical officer. “We believe our partnership to expand access to supplemental and value-added benefits demonstrates our focus to keep our customers at the center of all we do and further establish Dollar General as a health destination.”
Health and wellness products, including DG Wellbeing’s expanded assortment that provides more than 300 additional items and approximately 30% more selling space, help bring affordable items such as over-the-counter medicines, supplements and more closer to customers’ homes, particularly in rural and underserved communities, Dollar General noted.

DG Wellbeing is now available in more than 7,000 stores.
While Dollar General is not a grocer, the company recently announced it offers fresh produce in more than 5,000 stores. With this achievement, the retailer has more individual points of produce distribution than any other U.S. mass retailer or grocer, the company said. Dollar General’s produce assortment offers the top 20 items typically sold in traditional grocery stores to provide customers with items such as tomatoes, onions, apples, strawberries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, lemons, limes, salad mixes and more.
Additionally, every Dollar General store offers components of a nutritious meal including canned and frozen vegetables, canned fruits, proteins, grains, dairy and more. The Better For You program also provides recipes and resources for customers.
