Dollar General plans in-store holiday donation campaigns
This holiday season, Dollar General is showing its support for several of the communities it serves.
The Goodlettsville, Tenn.-based retailer announced that it will host in-store collection events and provide $485,000 in donations to benefit local toy drives, including the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s “Thanks and Giving” campaign, as well as to area schools and nonprofit organizations.
“During this season of giving, we look forward to spreading holiday cheer across our hometown communities,” Denine Torr, Dollar General’s senior director of community initiatives, said. “Some of the greatest gifts are health, happiness and hope. Our work to support the research and care at St. Jude, to ensure children have holiday presents through toy drives and Toys for Tots, and by extending surprise gifts to nonprofits and schools help us to extend the spirit of the season and our mission of serving others.”
As a way to commemorate the 15th anniversary of partnering with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s “Thanks and Giving” campaign, the retailer is donating $125,000 and collecting in-store donations from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18.
From Nov. 20 to Dec. 4, Dollar General will host its annual in-store toy drives, where shoppers can donate toys to benefit a local toy drive or the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation. In addition, the retailer will give $100,000 to the organization.
Lastly, Dollar General will award 26 schools and nonprofit organizations with a $10,000 donation each over the holiday season, the company said.
