Earth Mama adds Organic Throat Smoothie Tea to portfolio

Earth Mama’s portfolio of herbal teas is growing.

New to the Clackamas, Ore.-based company’s portfolio is the Organic Throat Smoothie Tea, which was formulated without the use of licorice in order to be safe for children and those who are pregnant.

“Since its beginning, Earth Mama's expertise has been formulating safe, effective herbal products for pregnant and breastfeeding women and their babies,” Melinda Olson, founder and CEO, said. “And the primary tenet in the company's mission is to do no harm. That's why we formulated Organic Throat Smoothie Tea without licorice root, which is not recommended for use during pregnancy or for children.”

Featuring a formula that has been USDA certified as organic, the tea contains such ingredients as elderflower for immune support, marshmallow root and slippery elm bark, as well as lemon and orange peel for a citrus and floral taste, the company said.

“Moms have known about the 'tea with lemon and honey' trick forever,” Olson said. “Throat Smoothie Tea is formulated to be like that. And since it's formulated to be safe for pregnant women, it's an all-caps YES for kids. We like to call it a licorice-free love note for your throat … and we know your throat will feel the love.”

Earth Mama’s Organic Throat Smoothie Tea, which is Non-GMO Project Verified and certified kosher by EarthKosher, retails for $6.29.
