Giant Food takes flu shots on the road via mobile clinics
Giant Food’s flu shots are hitting the road.
Yes, flu shots are now on the move thanks to the Landover, Md.-based retailer’s new mobile clinics.
Available throughout Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware through October, flu shots will be administered by Giant’s specially trained and certified pharmacists, and require no appointment.
The Airstream vehicle, which will make stops at key locations throughout the region in an effort to reach as many people as possible, come in response to the high demand of vacations, the company said.
On Sept. 23, the mobile clinic will be stopping from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Giant Food store located at 6340 York Rd., in Baltimore.
On Sept. 25, it will stop at the store located on 3336 Wisconsin Ave. NW in Washington, D.C., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Lastly, it will be stopping on Sept. 28, at the Healthy Pantry Centers-Food Bank of Delaware, located at 222 Lake Drive in Newark, Del., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Additional clinic dates and locations will be available on the Giant Food website.
It also will be partnering with Gym Jonez, a popular certified personal trainer in the Washington, D.C. metro area to bring select outdoor classes to the Airstream in October. Those details will be available on the Giant Pharmacy website as well as on Gym Jonez’s social media page.
“As we prepare for the possibility of the unprecedented convergence of COVID-19 and flu, getting your annual flu shot is more important than ever to help you, your family and your community stay healthy,” Paul Zvaleny, Giant Food director of pharmacy operations, said. “We are eager to make flu shots as accessible as possible for members of our communities and are hoping to continue to expand this program to more parts of the region to service people and communities who might not have easy access to a pharmacy. As pharmacists being the most accessible healthcare professionals, we need to ensure we expand that access to people and communities in need.”
