Giant introduces All Set in a Box meal solution

Giant is adding yet another meal solution to the offerings at its Giant and Martin’s banners. The Carlisle, Pa.-based Ahold Delhaize USA division is introducing All Set in a Box, which offers a main course and sides for a family of four, with most varieties coming in at less than $5 per serving. 

“While families are spending more time gathered around the table enjoying meals together, many are also facing meal fatigue when it comes to what they should prepare,” said John MacDonald, Giant director of meal solutions and marketing operations. “The Giant Company regularly inspires our customers with various quick, easy and affordable meals for busy families from ready to eat, ready to heat and ready to cook.”

The offering is responding to more people eating at home, but consumers running out of creativity, energy or both. An October 2020 survey from FMI - The Food Industry Association found 47% of respondents reporting difficulty while thinking of new meal ideas and 53% who said not being in the mood to cook was a particular challenge.

The All Set in a Box meals can be ordered in store or via phone ahead of time from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily, and are ready within 15 minutes. Some options include taco kits, eight-piece chicken meals, ribs, rotisserie chicken and chicken tenders. Sides that complete the meal include mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, coleslaw, macaroni salad and pepper slaw, while bread offerings include cornbread and biscuits, among others. 

All Set in a Box joins Giant's other exclusive meal solutions, including meal kits and Cook in Bag, which launched last fall. The launch also comes as parent company Ahold Delhaize USA seeks to substantially grow its private brand portfolio this year.
