Lightlife expands plant-based chicken offerings
Lightlife is continuing to expand its lineup of plant-based foods.
The brand recently shared that it would be launching two new plant-based chicken products — chicken tenders and chicken fillets.
“Lightlife is relentless in our pursuit of plant-based perfection,” Jitendra Sagili, chief research and development and food technology officer at Greenleaf Foods said. “Breakthrough innovation in plant-based chicken that offers the texture, color and breading consumers expect is challenging, but I’m proud of how these products deliver against consumer expectations. They are truly the most chicken-like products in the plant-based category today.”
Breaded like regular chicken, these plant-based offerings are non-GMO Project Verified, vegan certified, do not contain cholesterol or artificial ingredients, and contain between 8 to 10 g of protein per serving, the Chicago-based company said.
“Chicken is the most popular animal protein in the U.S., but until now, no one has really been able to crack the code for a plant-based option,” Dan Curtin, president of Greenleaf Foods said. “These new products deliver on Lightlife’s commitment to offer consumers the mouth-watering, plant-based variety and simplicity they deserve.”
Currently, consumers can find Lightlife’s plant-based chicken tenders and chicken fillets at Sprouts Market. They will expand to additional retailers throughout the year.
