Meijer is looking to keep certain holiday traditions alive.
To do just that, the retailer is continuing its annual Very Merry Meijer tradition of surprising customers in its supercenters and stores across the Midwest with a $1,000 shopping spree.
“We recognize that many holiday traditions may look different this year, which is why we believe it was more important than ever to uphold our Very Merry Meijer tradition,” Hank Meijer, executive chairman said. “Each year we look forward to spreading holiday cheer and showing our customers and team members our appreciation through this event, and 2020 was no exception.”
As a way to up the ante this year, Meijer plans on surprising an additional 1,300 shoppers with $100 gift cards, the company said.
“This is the largest Very Merry Meijer event we've ever had,” Meijer president and CEO Rick Keyes said. “The communities we serve have faced a very challenging year, so we wanted to do something extra special to help bring joy to our customers this holiday season.”
In addition, two of the retailer’s team members were surprised with a $100 gift card as a way to thank them for their efforts, the company said.
