As a family-owned company, we care about the communities we serve and are proud to support these organizations that are making a difference in the City of Detroit, store manager Marcus Reliford said. The community has embraced Rivertown Market since our doors opened, and were excited to build on that momentum and work with the community to make an even bigger impact.

The nonprofits that each received $5,000 to support their missions include:

  • Give Merit, which will use the funds to support its Alumni Summit;
  • Greening of Detroit, which will be using the funds to support its operations, as well as efforts that include tree planting and workforce initiatives throughout the city;
  • Detroit PAL, who will earmark funds to support its spring radiothon;
  • COTS Detroit, who will use the funds to support its operations;
  • Bees In The D, which will be using the funds to help restore and harvest honey at a blighted lot in Core City, located within North Corktown;
  • Better Detroit Youth, who will utilize the funds to help train young people to bake and sell brownies, while also building basic entrepreneur skills and create youth empowered apparel;
  • Stem Genius, who will use the donation to help youths in science, technology, engineering and math; and
  • Pure Heart Foundation, which will be using the funds to provide its scholars with financial support while visiting their parents incarcerated for the holidays, and activate its outreach facility that provides 150 scholars with access to afterschool activities and programs.
