Adapt Pharma offers Narcan discounts to state, public orgs

1/14/2016

DUBLIN — Adapt Pharma, maker of Narcan, a nasal spray of naloxone, used to treat opioid overdoses, announced Thursday that it would offer a special price for Narcan to government and nonprofit organizations working to curb opioid overdoses.

Working with the United States Conference of Mayors, National Association of Counties, National Governors Association and National League of Cities, Adapt Pharma has set the Public Interest Price of Narcan at $37.50 per dose, or $75 per two-pack carton through the U.S. Communities Purchasing Alliance and Premier

“This broad partnership provides state and local government and non-profit entities access to Narcan Nasal Spray, the only FDA approved, needle-free, ready-to-use naloxone nasal spray, at a transparent discounted price,” Adapt Pharma chairman and CEO Seamus Mulligan said. “With this partnership, we are confident Narcan Nasal Spray can play a critical role in supporting these entities’ efforts to implement scaled-up naloxone access and distribution policies in response to the growing opioid overdose crisis in communities across the nation.”

The move from Adapt Pharma is in support of President Barack Obama’s call for broad measures across federal, state and local agencies, as well as nonprofits and the private sector, to help reduce the deaths attributed to opioid and heroin overdoses  — which numbered 29,000 in 2014.  The special pricing will be available to such qualifying group purchasers as fire departments, health departments, school districts, colleges and universities.
