The Apothecary Shops appoints execs

10/23/2009

PHOENIX A specialty pharmacy company that has lately expanded on a regional level now plans to expand nationally, and it’s adding some new executives to help.

The Apothecary Shops, based in Phoenix, announced Thursday the appointment of former Medicine Shoppe International VP clinical operations, Keith Cook, as president. Cook, a pharmacist with more than 20 years’ experience in executive positions in retail, specialty and hospital pharmacies, previously headed MSI’s Specialty Care Centers. John Musil, who founded The Apothecary Shops in 1996, will remain as CEO.

Musil also named Apothecary Shops’ first chief financial officer, Gary Williams, formerly VP financial services for Avnet Technology Solutions North America.

“These strategic steps and divisions of responsibility better position the company to be a player on a national scale,” Musil said in a statement. “The breadth of Keith’s experience and depth of his background in all phases of pharmacy operations and management will be essential as we aggressively move forward.”
