SEATTLE — Despite reports of flu shot shortages in the state, Bartell Drugs is ensuring customers it has a full stock of vaccinations at all of its 65 locations in western Washington.
“The Centers for Disease Control and state and local Departments of Public Health have reported a spike in flu-related hospitalizations. Pharmacists and public health officials agree that a simple flu shot is the surest way to avoid this year’s outbreak,” Bartell Drugs stated in a news release.
Bartells can vaccinate anyone ages 3 years and up. Some children up to the age of 8 years may require two shots if this is their first-time flu vaccination. Full effectiveness of the vaccine can take up to two weeks for everyone.
Flu shots are available seven days a week, including evenings and weekends at locations throughout the Puget Sound region with no appointment needed. For added convenience, Bartell customers can also schedule their flu shot in advance, the company stated.
The flu vaccine is considered a preventive service under the Affordable Care Act, and is fully covered at no cost through most insurance plans.
