Charlotte Food Lion customers can purchase food and wine with their groceries

SALISBURY, N.C. — Food Lion customers in the Charlotte, N.C., area can now order beer and wine when ordering grocery home delivery.

Via its partnership with Instacart, customers in 40 ZIP codes in the Charlotte region over the age of 21 can purchase alcohol. They must provide their date of birth during the checkout process and need to be present to sign for the delivery and present a photo ID. This option became effective Dec. 8.

“This program has had a great reception since it launched and we are excited for its continued expansion,” said Neil Norman, director of customer loyalty at Food Lion.  “Now with the additional options of beer and wine, Food Lion continues to deliver on our commitment to making grocery shopping easy and convenient for our thousands of customers."

Salisbury-based Food Lion has nearly 1,000 stores in 10 Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. It is a division if Delhaize America.
