ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco on Thursday reported its March sales results, posting net sales of $10.71 billion — a 3% increase over the same period last year. For the 31 weeks ended April 3, Costco reported sales of $68.96 billion, which marks a gain of 3% over its $67.59 billion in sales during the same span of time last year.
For the month, its comparable sales in the United States rose 1%, with a 2% increase for the 31-week period. The company’s Canadian business saw a 3% gain over the same period last year for March, but posted a 6% loss for the 31 weeks. Excluding gasoline price deflation and foreign exchange, U.S. comps were at 3% for the month and 4% for the 31 weeks, and Canadian comps saw a 9% increase for both periods of time.
Costco said it plans to release its Q3 results after business ends on May 26.
