Costco sees 3% gain in June's U.S. same-store sales

ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco reported on Thursday a 1% lift in total sales for the month of June as U.S. comp store sales increased 3%.



Net sales for the month of June were $11.01 billion, an increase of 1% from $10.88 billion during the similar period last year.



Total company same-store sales slipped 1%, as comp-store sales in the United States climbed 3%.



Costco currently operates 679 warehouses, including 479 in the United States and Puerto Rico, 89 in Canada, 36 in Mexico, 26 in the United Kingdom, 20 in Japan, 11 in Korea, 10 in Taiwan, seven in Australia and one in Spain. The company plans to open up to an additional eight new warehouses prior to the end of its fiscal year on Aug. 30, 2015.
