CVS Caremark recognized for promoting healthy lifestyles for its employees
WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS Caremark was recognized at the National Business Group on Health’s Leadership Summit this week for promoting healthy lifestyles for its employees, the retailer announced on Friday.
CVS Caremark received the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles award at the Summit, held in Washington, D.C. It received the Gold Award for its Wellness Program for creating cultural and environmental changes that support employees who have made a commitment to long-term behavior changes.
Now in its fifth year, the Best Employers for Healthy Lifestyles awards are designed to encourage all employers to take action and embrace a culture of wellness.
“We are thrilled to receive this award,” stated V. Michael Ferdinandi, SVP human resources for CVS Caremark. “Because CVS Caremark is the country’s leading pharmacy healthcare provider, it is extremely important to us to provide a healthy workplace for our own 215,000 employees, and to help to improve their health and well-being.”
The CVS Caremark Wellness Program is designed to improve the health behaviors of CVS Caremark colleagues and their dependents. The program encourages associates to be healthy and to take ownership of their health through such health improvement programs as smoking cessation, nutrition, physical activity, stress management, preventative screenings, health assessments, flu shots and maternity management, among others.
