CVS Caremark reopens Dallas playground for children of all abilities

2/4/2008

WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS Caremark has announced the grand reopening of Fantasy Landing playground in Dallas, bringing Texas its second Boundless playground where children of all abilities can play together.

The 20-year-old refurbished playground is one of three signature Boundless playground projects to be announced this year, all supported by the CVS Caremark All Kids Can Program.

Construction of the playground is funded in part by a $250,000 grant from the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust, along with $80,000 raised by local CVS associates that enabled a sunshade to be installed at the play structure.

The playground now has ramps, wide platforms and soft rubber surfaces to accommodate a wheelchair and swings shaped like car seats that provide back support and prevent children from falling.

In July, CVS Caremark All Kids Can pledged $1.1 million to Boundless Playgrounds as part of an ongoing commitment to help children with disabilities, including three CVS Caremark Charitable Trust grants totaling $750,000 to fund construction and program services for inclusive Boundless playgrounds in Boston, Dallas and Los Angeles in 2008.

In addition, the trust provided $290,000 for projects where children of all abilities can play together and last summer, through the CVS “School’s Out! Go Play!” scholarship program, 60 communities received a $1,000 grant for Go Play! Materials developed by Boundless Playgrounds.
