CVS Caremark reopens more than 140 locations following Hurricane Ike

9/17/2008

WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS Caremark has announced the reopening of more than 140 stores in Southeast Texas since Hurricane Ike pummeled the region.

There are currently about two-thirds of CVS locations in the region now up and running, and more stores continue to re-open daily.

“We are committed to reopening our stores as quickly as possible to ensure our communities have access to emergency supplies and their prescription medications,” stated Dennis Tewell, area vice president for Texas at CVS. “Customers who have been displaced by the hurricane may visit any nearby CVS/pharmacy to have their prescriptions filled.”

To assist with the recovery efforts, over the past two days the company has held several water and ice donation events in the parking lots of its stores located in Houston, Beaumont, Sante Fe and Nederland.

As previously reported by Drug Store News, CVS Caremark Charitable Trust is donating $250,000 to the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund to support the organization’s on-going relief efforts, including their current efforts in the aftermath of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
