CVS Caremark supports AHA by participating in National Wear Red Day

2/5/2014

WOONSOCKET, R.I. — CVS Caremark will participate in the American Heart Association's National Wear Red Day on Feb. 7, by encouraging colleagues at 7,600 CVS/pharmacy locations nationwide to wear red and create awareness of the battle against heart disease in women.

CVS Caremark also will host heart-healthy education events for their colleagues across the country, and will make a $10,000 donation to the AHA in support of National Wear Red Day. For more than 10 years, the AHA has sponsored National Wear Red Day to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease in women.

"Heart disease continues to be the No. 1 killer of women in the United States," said Eileen Howard Boone, SVP corporate social responsibility and philanthropy for CVS Caremark and president of the CVS Caremark Charitable Trust. "Through these efforts, we can engage our colleagues in taking action against heart disease while supporting our purpose of helping people on their path to better health in the communities where we live and work."
