CVS Health named to CIO 100
WOONSOCKET, R.I. – CVS Health on Wednesday announced the receipt of two distinguished awards by CIO for excellence and leadership in information technology.
The company was recognized as one of the CIO 100 Award winners for its implementation of an integrated digital pharmacy application. The 29th annual award program recognized CVS Health for integrating three CVS pharmacy platforms where consumers can manage all their prescriptions from a single, self-service digital experience.
CVS Health also announced that EVP and chief information officer Stephen Gold was named by CIO as a 2016 inductee into the CIO Hall of Fame. This prestigious honor is bestowed upon a select group of IT executives and visionaries who have had a significant impact on the IT profession.
“The combination of these prestigious honors further validates how Steve and his team have strategically leveraged technology to help CVS Health push the boundaries of innovation, digital leadership and business value creation,” stated Larry Merlo, president and CEO of CVS Health. “Equally impressive is Steve’s entrance into the CIO Hall of Fame which marks a distinguished career in IT and demonstrated excellence in technology leadership.”
Merlo also described Gold as a mentor to the thousands of IT colleagues across the company who deliver for CVS Health and its customers every day.

The CIO Hall of Fame was first created in 1997 to spotlight 12 IT leaders who had significantly contributed to and profoundly influenced the IT discipline, the use of technology in business and the advancement of the CIO role. Ten years later, in 2007, CIO inducted its second class of honorees into the CIO Hall of Fame during CIO magazine’s 20th anniversary celebration. CIO continues to showcase this elite group of CIOs - now numbering 85 - during the CIO Hall of Fame induction ceremony.

The CIO 100 and CIO Hall of Fame awards ceremony will take place on Aug. 16, 2016, which will be held during The CIO 100 Symposium at The Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.
