CVS reopens 32 Louisiana locations following Gustav

9/4/2008

WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS Caremark announced on Thursday that it has reopened 64 locations in Louisiana since Hurricane Gustav swept through the state, and it is donating supplies to local communities impacted by the storm.

All of the pharmacy locations in Mississippi, Alabama, Texas and the Florida panhandle are open.

“CVS/pharmacy is pleased to do its part to assist with the hurricane relief effort,” stated Denny Tewell, area vice president for Louisiana. “Thousands of Louisiana residents have had no access to basic goods such as water, ice and diapers. We hope these donations will help our communities recover from Hurricane Gustav.”

As part of the relief efforts, the company is donating ice and water to local residents in select stores in Baton Rouge on Thursday and in Baton Rouge, Houma and Kenner on Friday. Two bags of ice and two gallons of water per person at each location will be available while supplies last.

In addition, it is also donating more than 5,000 Playskool Baby Care brand diapers and more than 14,000 baby wipes to Save the Children for their Hurricane Gustav relief efforts in Louisiana.
