CVS/pharmacy announces executive moves

WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS/pharmacy has announced a string of executive moves, including the promotion of Mike Bloom to EVP merchandising and supply chain.

In his new role, Bloom will lead an integrated end-to-end network, managing store layout as well as the selection, purchasing, inventory and supply of product to CVS stores. Bloom joined CVS as part of the People's Drug Store acquisition in 1991. He served as VPMM for Consumer Healthcare and later led the Life store prototype initiative. He was promoted to SVP merchandising in 2003 and SVP of merchandising and supply chain in 2009.

In addition, Scott Baker has been promoted to EVP internal operations and real estate. He continues to be responsible for store and pharmacy operations supporting the company's retail stores and for new retail location development and facilities management. Baker joined CVS with theRevco acquisition in 1997 as a region manager, having held a number of field management and operations roles. He served as a region manager in several CVS markets, and was promoted to area VP for New England in 2002. In early 2007, he was named SVP East Division and from 2008 to 2009, he led the integration of Longs Drug Stores. Prior to Thursday's promotion, Baker was SVP internal operations and real estate.

Beth Wingate has been promoted to SVP payer relations. Wingate joined CVS Caremark in 2007 as VP, managed care. She will continue to take the lead on negotiating rates with insurers for the company's retail pharmacies and will oversee the reimbursement audit function.

Charley Golden has been promoted to SVP construction and facilities management, overseeing all construction, repairs and maintenance activities across CVS Caremark for more than 7,500 buildings. Golden joined the company in 1997 as a senior industrial engineer in logistics and since 1999, has held the position of VP construction and facilities management.

Baker, Bloom and Wingate report to Larry Merlo, president of CVS/pharmacy. Golden reports to Baker.
