GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. Dollar General on Monday promoted two senior executives — John Flanigan to EVP global supply chain and Bob Ravener to EVP and chief people officer.

Both executives have been with the company since 2008, and these promotions are in recognition of their contributions to the overall success of Dollar General.

“Since joining Dollar General, both [Flanigan] and [Ravener] have made notable and significant contributions to the company’s growth and success,” stated Rick Dreiling, Dollar General’s chairman and CEO. “They are exceptional leaders and highly respected experts in their fields. They are valuable assets to our organization, and I look forward to their continued leadership and success at Dollar General.”

Flanigan joined Dollar General as SVP global supply chain in May 2008. Prior to Dollar General, Flanigan was group VP of logistics and distribution for Longs Drug Stores. Previously, he served as VP logistics for Safeway and he has also held distribution and logistics leadership positions at Vons, Specialized Distribution Management and Crum & Crum Logistics.

Ravener joined Dollar General as SVP and chief people officer in August 2008, overseeing all of Dollar General’s human resources initiatives. Before joining Dollar General, Ravener was SVP of U.S. partner resources for Starbucks Coffee Company. Prior to Starbucks, Ravener served in senior human resources roles at The Home Depot, as well as at PepsiCo and Footstar, after beginning his career as a submarine officer in the U.S. Navy.
