CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Dollar Tree is not slowing down after finalizing its $8.5 billion acquisition of Family Dollar Stores Inc. last week. The retailer plans to open a 1.5 million-sq.-ft. distribution center in the vicinity of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Dollar Tree plans to spend $104.4 million on the center, with construction slated to begin July 2015. The retailer will employ about 400 workers there, with hiring set to commence in early 2016. Dollar Tree will receive a site improvement grant and job development credits from the state government.
