DSNTV: Good Neighbor Pharmacy of the Year winner Topeka Pharmacy

LAS VEGAS — At AmerisourceBergen’s ThoughtSpot 2015, Topeka Pharmacy, based in Topeka, Ind., was named the Good Neighbor Pharmacy of the year. For owner Tom Miller, the force that helps him work to provide the most to his customers is centrality to the largely Amish town with a single stoplight.

“It’s not unusual for my tech to be exasperated because somebody calls us and wants the numbers of the local pizza place,” Miller told Drug Store News. “But to me it’s indicative of the fact that we are the service center of the community. With our Amish population at nearly 60% that’s important because otherwise they literally have to hire a driver to take them somewhere else.”

In addition to a community behind him, Miller said it’s also a boon to have Good Neighbor Pharmacy’s  resources on hand.

“I think the resources are vast and it multiplies our ability to be good to our patients and make those outcomes positive,” Miller said.
