Epic Pharmacies CEO announces retirement, executive search committee formed

COCKEYSVILLE, Md. — Angelo Voxakis recently announced his retirement after 16 years as president and CEO of Epic Pharmacies, a national network of independently owned pharmacies, effective December 31. An executive search committee has been formed. 


“On behalf of the board and everyone at Epic Pharmacies, I thank Angelo for providing the tremendous leadership and direction that has guided the company to great growth and success,” stated Jeff Sherr, VP Epic Pharmacies board of directors and president of Apple Discount Drugs. Epic Pharmacies has grown from 300 member pharmacies to 1,500 since Voxakis joined the co-op. 



Membership in Epic Pharmacy Network, which provides centralized contracting services, has grown from 280 to 2,200 stores. Voxakis joined Epic Pharmacies in 1999 as a licensed pharmacist and independent pharmacy owner. He is a graduate of the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Voxakis has served on the Maryland Board of Pharmacy Medication Errors Committee, the Baltimore Metropolitan Pharmacists Association board of directors, and the Maryland Retailers Association board of directors. 


He is a recipient of the Amerisource Family Pharmacy Award, the Seidman Distinguished Achievement Award, the Bowl of Hygeia Award, and the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy’s Key to Pharmacy Hall and Dean’s Hall of Fame for Distinguished Community Pharmacists.
