FDA approves Aurobindo’s generic Boniva

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Food and Drug Administration has approved Aurobindo Pharma’s generic Boniva (ibandronate sodium) tablets, the company announced this week. The drug is indicated to treat and prevent postmenopausal osteoporosis. 

 

Aurobindo’s generic will be available in 150-mg dosage strength. The drug had a market size in the United States of about $55 million for the 12 months ended January 2016, according to IMS Health data.
