Former Borders CEO shifts to A&P
MONTVALE, N.J. Borders' most recent chief executive will join supermarket chain A&P as its new president and CEO.
Ron Marshall will assume the roles on Feb. 8, A&P announced Wednesday. Marshall has extensive experience leading a public company, holding such positions as EVP and CFO of Pathmark, as well as CEO of wholesale food distributor Nash Finch. Marshall also has served on the board of many organizations, including Nash Finch and Claire’s Stores.
The announcement follows the chain's promotion of its finance executives earlier this week.
“The board of directors and I are very excited about the strengths, competencies and experiences that Ron brings to A&P. He will be the key leader in our turnaround. I’m looking forward to working together with Ron and the Yucaipa team to improve our immediate performance as well as develop strategies to drive sustainable success in the future. With Ron as our next chief executive officer, I am confident that we will realize the tremendous strategic value of the company and capitalize on our leadership position in the Northeast,” said Christian Haub, A&P's executive chairman.
