Former United Supermarkets CEO joins Acme Markets

PHILADELPHIA Two weeks after Acme Markets president Judith Spires announced her resignation, the Supervalu-owned chain has appointed a new president.

Dan Sanders, Acme's new president, is the former CEO of United Supermarkets. He will join 124-store chain immediately, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"Dan comes to us with a wealth of experience in the grocery industry and is well-positioned to continue to grow Acme in this market," Pete Van Helden, Supervalu's EVP retail operations, said in a statement.
